S&C LED YOUTH ATHLETIC DEVELOPMENT AND STRENGTH TRAINING ADELAIDE
YOUTH TRAINING
BUILDING CONFIDENT, RESILIENT YOUNG ATHLETES FOR LIFE.
If you want to give your child the ultimate foundation for sport and life, our Youth Athletic Development Program is built to do exactly that. Designed around the proven principles of Long-Term Athlete Development (LTAD), our highly skilled Strength and Conditioning Coaches help kids of all ages build healthy movement patterns, unlock physical potential, and develop lifelong habits in a safe, structured, and highly engaging environment.
THE PILLARS OF OUR YOUTH PROGRAM
At iPerform, we understand that young athletes are not just miniature adults. Their bodies are growing, their coordination is evolving, and their training needs to reflect their specific developmental stage.
Our structured framework focuses on the holistic development of the young athlete, balancing physical ability with movement understanding and personal growth. We have rigorous systems in place to track, guide, and support kids of all ages. Whether your child is just starting out or preparing for elite youth competition, our qualified strength and conditioning coaches ensure that every exercise selection is age-appropriate, safe, and highly effective. Our youth program is built on:
1. Fundamental Movement Patterns & LTAD
We focus heavily on mastering healthy movement patterns before adding intensity. Through our Long-Term Athlete Development (LTAD) model, kids learn how to squat, hinge, lunge, push, pull, sprint, and land correctly. These foundational skills create a broad athletic base that transfers to any sport.
2. Safe, Supervised Strength & Conditioning
Is strength training safe for kids? Yes, when done appropriately. Research shows that supervised strength and conditioning is highly beneficial for youth athletes. Our sessions are strictly supervised by accredited strength and conditioning coaches who ensure safe technique and pick age-appropriate progressions that match your child’s maturity level.
3. Injury Mitigation
Growing bodies are prone to growth-plate issues, coordination shifts, and overuse injuries. Our program targets these vulnerabilities by building joint stability, core strength, and landing mechanics. By being proactive, we aim to keep your kids on the field and out of the physio clinic.
4. Independence & Lifelong Skills
We treat the gym as a classroom for life. Young athletes learn how to set personal goals, warm up independently, manage training loads, learn the importance of recovery, and take ownership of their physical health. The skills they learn here such as consistency, resilience, and body awareness are habits that stick with them for a lifetime.
5. A Thriving Social Environment
Athletic development should be the best hour of a kid's day. We foster a supportive, high-energy social environment where kids from different sports and backgrounds connect, encourage one another, and build genuine self-confidence alongside their peers.
HOW WE INVOLVE PARENTS
We are part of you and your child’s team.
We know how important your child's development is to you. That’s why we don't keep parents in the dark. From initial assessment where we establish goals with you and your child through to implementing regular check-ins with parents to discuss your child’s progress, movement milestones, and overall well-being. We aim to keep you involved every step of the way.
Whether it's managing growth spurts or balancing a heavy school and club sports schedule, we collaborate closely with you to ensure your child stays healthy, motivated, and energetic.
OUR DEVELOPMENTAL STAGES
The Foundation Phase
The entire focus here is on physical literacy and engagement. At this early entry level, we utilize structured play, coordination challenges, and bodyweight movements to teach fundamental patterns like running, jumping, balancing, and landing. It looks like fun to them, but it is secretly building the critical neurological pathways required for future athletic success.
The Development Phase
This pivotal phase introduces light, structured strength and conditioning, shifting the focus toward refined athletic mechanics. Growth spurts can often cause temporary drops in coordination and flexibility (often called "adolescent awkwardness"). Our coaches specifically target this phase by emphasizing joint stability and injury mitigation to protect rapidly growing bodies.
The Performance Phase
Tailored for athletes ready for advanced strength and conditioning. Here, the training shifts toward sport-specific conditioning, advanced lifting techniques, and building absolute strength and performance power. This stage prepares older youth athletes to dominate their chosen sports while instilling the independence and training habits of elite competitors.
WHAT AGE GROUPS DO WE TRAIN?
Our Youth Athletic Development Program is designed for young people from as young as 7 years old through to 18.
However, we do not believe in a one-size-fits-all approach based strictly on a birthdate. True athletic development depends on biological maturity, coordination, and individual readiness. Because of this, some children will pass through certain phases quicker than others. Our coaches continuously assess each individual, moving them through our distinct developmental stages only when their bodies and skill levels are truly ready.
Unsure if your child is ready to participate? Every child develops at their own pace, both physically and socially. If you are unsure whether your child is old enough or ready to join, please get in contact with our coaching team. We can have a quick chat or organise an initial movement assessment to find the absolute best fit for them.
Located in Edinburgh, we service youth athletes from all over Adelaide’s northern area including Mawson Lakes, Salisbury, Golden Grove, Modbury, Munno Para, Gawler, Barossa Valley, Virginia, Angle Vale, and Two Wells.
